February's Birthstone : Amethyst
It's February, so unless you love darkness and cold (or are smart and live somewhere warm) you might need all the help you can get getting through this month. Luckily, February's birthstone is amethyst, and amethyst is here to help!
Amethyst has healing powers, both physically and mentally. It can help with impatience and promote calm. The word amethyst comes from the greek word ametusthos meaning "not intoxicated." Amethyst is believed to de-toxify a physical space and remove negative energy.
It is also believed to wash away negative thinking, help with anxiety, depression, encourage solid sleep patterns, and ease tension and headaches.
As an added bonus, amethyst is a gorgeous stone. I generally only work in green amethyst rather than the more commonly known purple version of the gemstone. Green amethyst is a beautiful stone that pairs well with any complexion and any shade of gemstone. Something about it just works.
